Hyla M. Perillo-Wright

Dance Background
​
Hyla grew up a classically trained dancer in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary at Dance Arts Academy in Traverse City, MI, Co-Owned and Directed by Betsy Carr and Sue Buck. She studied at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City on scholarship by the NYCDA College Scholarship Foundation. She graduated with a BFA in Dance Concentration in Ballet. Her company studies include: American Ballet Theater (NYC), Complexions Contemporary Ballet, BalletMet, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, and Rioult Dance (NYC). In her professional career she danced pieces by: Peter Chu, May O'Donell, Twyla Tharp, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Joey Dowling, Rachel Kreiling, Adam Burrach, and was a guest principle as Sugar Plum in the Nutcracker (DAA). She has assisted world renowned master teacher and choreographers Suzi Taylor and Andy Pellick in their master classes and setting choreography. Upon graduating college she made her Broadway debut as Victoria the White Cat in CATS The Musical North American Tour by Andrew Lloyd Webber ('21/'22) Her choreography has won many awards across the US and continues to mentor her lifelong students inspiring them to dancer wherever life takes her (like to Japan). She is currently serving as the Assistant Director and Ballet Mistress at Okinawa School of Performing Arts in Okinawa, Japan.
Pilates Background
​
She grew up taking Pilates at her dance studio in Traverse City, MI. Dancers and Pilates go hand in hand when conditioning and building a foundation for dance. While she studied at Marymount she took more interest in Pilates and Somatic Awareness classes peaking her interest . She is now certified in Pilates and looks forward to freelancing and teaching.
